Wrinkles

Wrinkles are a natural part of the aging process, and their development is influenced by factors such as genetics, sun exposure, smoking, and repetitive facial movements. While it’s not possible to completely prevent wrinkles, several treatments and interventions can help minimize their appearance and promote smoother, more youthful-looking skin.

Topical Treatments:

Retinoids, such as tretinoin (Retin-A), adapalene, and tazarotene, are derivatives of vitamin A. They promote collagen production, enhance skin cell turnover, and can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Antioxidants like vitamin C and E can help protect the skin from oxidative stress caused by free radicals. They may contribute to the prevention of premature aging and reduce the appearance of wrinkles. Keeping the skin well-hydrated with moisturizers can temporarily plump up the skin, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Peptides are short chains of amino acids that may stimulate collagen production and help improve skin texture.

Injectable Treatments:

Botulinum toxin injections (Botox, Letybo, Xeomin) temporarily relax facial muscles, reducing the appearance of wrinkles caused by muscle movement. Commonly used for forehead lines, crow’s feet, and frown lines.

Dermal Fillers are primarily made of hyaluronic acid.  Fillers add volume to areas with wrinkles and fine lines, particularly in areas like the nasolabial folds and marionette lines.

Collagen Stimulators Radiesse stimulate the production of collagen, helping to restore volume and improve skin elasticity over time.

Non-Ablative and Ablative Laser Resurfacing:

Laser resurfacing can improve the appearance of wrinkles by removing damaged skin layers and stimulating collagen production. Non-ablative lasers are less invasive, while ablative lasers remove outer skin layers.

Microneedling (Collagen Induction Therapy): uses tiny needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin, stimulating collagen production and improving the appearance of wrinkles.

Facelift is a surgical procedure that addresses sagging skin and deep wrinkles by tightening facial tissues.  It can be subdivided into brow lift, or forehead lift, can reduce wrinkles and sagging in the forehead and upper face. Eyelid Surgery (Blepharoplasty) can address wrinkles and excess skin around the eyes.  We do not offer surgery at our clinic, but we can support you and make recommendations when we feel it is in your best interest.

Maintaining a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet, regular exercise, and avoiding smoking can contribute to overall skin health.

Frequently Asked Questions

Skin needs sunscreen to protect itself from UV rays, which accelerate aging and cause wrinkles. Regularly applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen can minimize sun damage, prevent further wrinkle formation, and maintain youthful skin.

A medical-grade skincare product penetrates deeper layers of the skin, delivering more anti-aging benefits than over-the-counter options. Using ingredients like retinoids, peptides, and antioxidants, you can reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

A hydrabrasion facial exfoliates and hydrates the skin while removing dead skin cells, resulting in improved skin texture and fewer fine lines. This non-invasive treatment promotes a refreshed, smoother, and more youthful complexion.

Botox® and other neuromodulators relax the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles, such as frown lines and crow's feet. By temporarily immobilizing these muscles, these treatments smooth the skin and prevent the formation of new wrinkles.

By plumping the skin from beneath, dermal fillers restore lost volume and smooth out wrinkles. They are particularly effective for deeper lines around the mouth, cheeks, and under the eyes, helping to restore a youthful appearance.

Microneedling with PRP/PRF stimulates collagen production by creating tiny channels in the skin. When combined with platelet-rich plasma or fibrin, this treatment accelerates healing, improving skin texture and reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
