Rosacea is a common and chronic skin condition that primarily affects the face. It often starts with facial redness that may come and go but can progressively become more persistent and lead to other symptoms. While the exact cause of rosacea is not fully understood, a combination of genetic, environmental, vascular, and inflammatory factors is believed to contribute to its development.

Lifestyle modification can be helpful as a first step.  It is recommended to avoid the following:

  • Sun Exposure: UV radiation can aggravate symptoms
  • Temperature Extremes: Exposure to hot or cold weather
  • Spicy Foods and Hot Beverages: These may trigger flushing
  • Alcohol: Particularly red wine
  • Stress: Emotional stress can exacerbate symptoms
  • Certain Skincare Products: Harsh or irritating products may worsen symptoms
