Stretch Marks

Stretch marks, also known as striae, are long, narrow streaks or lines that develop on the skin. They often appear when the skin is rapidly stretched or when there are changes in the body that affect the skin’s elasticity.

Stretch marks commonly occur during periods of rapid growth, such as puberty or pregnancy, and with rapid weight gain. Intensive weightlifting or bodybuilding can lead to rapid muscle growth, causing the skin to stretch and potentially develop stretch marks. Prolonged or high-dose use of corticosteroid medications can make the skin more susceptible to stretch marks.
